Some of our members are regulars at book festivals, to hear writers speak at first hand about their work. This year, with festivals cancelled (or in some cases postponed), several are taking place online. The best known is probably the Hay Festival, which this year is taking place as a virtual online festival over ten days, 22nd to 31st May, and features two writers read by our book club.
Those who read Ali Smith’s How to be both in April 2016 or read our December 2017 newsletter cover write-up may be interested in the virtual event that she is participating in on Monday 25th May, 6.30 pm.
Similarly those who read William Dalrymple’s White Mughals in 2003 or heard him speak at the 2009 Wigtown Book Festival may be interested in hearing him on Saturday 30th May, 1 pm.
Capacity at these events is limited to 3,000 (a worldwide audience) so if you would like to hear them you are advised to sign up to reserve your place (17 and 171 spaces for the above two talks respectively), however they may be available on repeat rather than live if you miss out.
