Hi All, Here is a virtual tour of Rhodes town. We found Rhodes more interesting than the over hyped Dubrovnik:

This is Rick's tour of Siena. We went in August a few days before the Palio and it was hot. But we did get to see the preparations. Just off the main street there is a nice secluded cafe/wine tasting shop where you can get full meals, sandwiches cakes coffees and, of course, a full wine tasting experience complete with the right cheeses to go with them. Unfortunately I cannot remember its name biut I'd know it if I went back to it.

We stayed for a few nights in a the Park Hotel Il Fonte nestled below Volterra. Excellent hotel with superb views in the evening over the Tuscan landscape and brilliant evening meals and wines. Really nice hot swimming pool too. Only downsdide is it is a bit of a steep walk up the hillside to the town. Volterra is an unspoilt medieval town with Roman ruins and is famous for real alabaster carvings (we got some small ones for our relatives). When we were there in early August there was a medieval fair for a few days and a portion of the town was blocked off for celebrations of music, comedy and plays (in Italian) and the currency was changed to GROATS with one Groat = 1 Euro! It was magical at night seeing all the shops open. Would like to go back there again.

Brilliant town - all medieval. Famous for alabaster ware and cae=rvings. Has Roman ruins too. We stayed in excellent hotel - Park Hotel Il Fonti nestled on the slopes of Volterra's hill. A bit of a steep climb to the town itself. But town is magical at night. We went when they were having a celebration of a medieval event in the 1500s. And the Euro was replaced by the Groat at 1 Euro = 1 Groat. Brilliant. Well recommended.
